Dear students,
King Mechizedek tells the boy that when we are children," everything is clear and everything is possible," but as time passes mysterious forces convince us to abandon our dreams" (p. 23).
Do you think this is true?
What are the "mysterious forces" that threaten to hold us back as we grow older?
Please discuss these points with your classmates on the blog.

I think this is true, because when we are young, we are trying to set up our path in life, when we get older, we stick to that and only that path. It takes many courage to get out of it and start again. You can start over, but your age don't. This is maybe what Paul Coelho wanted to say,"Do what you want to do, and nothing else"
ReplyDeleteWow, so much from me
I think it can be true, because when were children, we could imagine what we are going to be and we thought that we could make it possible. But when we grow up, our thinking become more critical. As the time passes, we might change our mind. There are 2 sides of people's mind. First, the pessimistic thinking and the other, the optimistic thinking. So, this "mysterious for" might be our pessimistic thinking, because our pessimistic thinking would say that we can't reach our dream because of many reasons, so just let it go. That's why we would abandon our own dreams.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, this could be the explanation for the topics.....
PS : Please correct me if I'm wrong....
I don't mind..
Same as them, I also think that's true, because when we're younger, our emotion is uncontrollable and always think something like, "Good guys always win!", "I can do everything I want, nothing's impossible!", or something like that. The case is different when we're grown up. We'll think more realistic and starting abandoning things like those above. In my humble opinion, the meaning of the "mysterious force" here isn't from the outside, but it's inside our mind, our realistic thinking.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more like you realize that your dream can't make much money and your parents don't agree to your choice of occupation..
ReplyDeleteIt's like these forces separating you from your dream, convincing you to abandon them and search for another jobs.. Or something like that... and it does happen..
it's true, when we were young the mind set of to fantasy land full of imagination that made the impossible, possible. But as time passes each day, reality starts to turn the possible into impossible.
ReplyDeletei think it's true. because when we're young, we did like what the other young people did. imagine, dream, all of that we did it when we're young. but, when we get older, we think like the other mature people think. we'll be more realistic and think for the future, not just dreaming. the meaning of 'mysterious force' here, i think it's more like a memory when we're young. it brings us to the happy life without any problem which the old people have. so, this is my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think that is true, because when we were a child we thought that we must got all things which we wanted, we always beg to our parents, if they didn't give it to us, we just crying and crying, caused of that, they would give us what we wanted. So if we already got it, everything is clear and everything is possible for us.But when we grew up, our thinking pattern will change into more realistic. So, maybe this is the thing which make us to abandon our dreams. We think more realistic, we assume maybe our dreams when we we're child is not good, so we must change our dreams.
ReplyDeleteAbout the "mysterious forces" I think that just about our pessimistic thinking and our unconfidential feeling.
That's my opinion.
In my opinion.. that's true.. why?
ReplyDeletebecause when we were kids..
we could dream freely, without thinking if that's a good or bad idea..
we could dream, without any limitation..
we still didn't know how things happened..
we only knew that, whatever you wanted, no matter it's impossible, we could get it..
and as time passes, we learn everything, and we knew that there's something that we couldn't achieve..
that made us said to ourself 'that is impossible'..
and I think the "mysterios force" is only our own mind.. when we're get older we'll think about everything, we feel afraid of what we'll do..
but actually, I think this is wrong, as I have known, we can achieve everything we want..
Matthew 7:7 said "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
so whatever you want, you can just ask to God and I believe, God will give what we want..
* sorry mr Lee I forgot about my assignment which was due yesterday, but please accept it.
